ASETUC was formed in 2007 to give workers in the service sector in ASEAN one voice. At the moment ASETUC has 64 affiliates in seven ASEAN countries. Our main objective is to promote sustainable economic growth with improving living and working standards, including full employment, social protection, equal opportunities, good quality jobs and social inclusion. Therefore, ASETUC is:

  1. Anticipating and identifying emerging trends and concerns in the liberalization of services under the ASEAN Economic Blueprint,
  2. Creating awareness among member-unions regarding ASEAN and its impact on workers to ensure their involvement to advocate for the incorporation of social dimensions within ASEAN policies,
  3. Promoting a tri-partite social dialogue within the ASEAN framework to ensure workers within the ASEAN have access to decent work, safe working conditions and affordable public services such as health care and education and
  4. Actively engaging its member-unions to engage in social partnership and social dialogue that recognize common interests of employers and employees in shaping the ongoing regional integration process.
